Satanic Verses From A Member Of Hugo's Brain Trust

The following commentary was published Thursday, September 13, 2007 in Venezuela's El Nacional newspaper, and is credited to Mari Pili Hernandez, Chavez's former Foreign Affairs Viceminister for North America,Mari Pili Hernandez
who some of you might have caught on her swings through Boston on propaganda jaunts, or in New York, and who now deigns call herself a journalist.

First, let's see what Chavismo says to us on the 6th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, what Hernandez says of the men who murdered Juliana McCourt, Sophia Addo, Barbara Olson,
among others.

Who Are The Terrorists? -Mari Pili Hernadez

"Is a man that commits suicide with a bomb attached to his body, having seen his country invaded, devastated, destroyed, under the premise of a "preventive war", because supposedly in said nation there were to be found nuclear weapons that were never found, while the UN's Security Council remains absolutely silent in the face of so much atrocity, a terrorist?

He that's seen his entire family die while at a family gathering, happily celebrating a relative's wedding when the invading army's airplane bombed the dwelling hosting the party, only to later simply state that it was a mistake, given that they'd thought that an Al Qaida member was hiding there, if he later went to place an explosive that somehow harmed that unruly army that mistakes a bride for Osama Bin Laden, is he a terrorist?

He that, not having sophisticated weapons with which to defend himself, nor smart missiles, nor rifles with telescopic scopes, nor submarines, nor aircraft carriers, decides to enter a shopping center and attack anyone who looks(!) like a family member of those that took his own from him, is he a terrorist?

The man that had no possibility of responding to the bombings that night after night submerge his country in misery, in pain, in hunger, in death, in indignity, when he decides to use his own body as a lethal weapon against the imperialist agressor that's been assassinating his people for decades, is he a terrorist?

He that plans "attempts" against installations in which nationals of the country that has been massacring entire populations for years simply because these peoples don't want to give away their energy resources have interests( likely meaning investements), is he a terrorist?

He that proffers threats, insults, abuses and all manner of offensive words against the President of the country that's subjected them to desolation, hunger, or violence, is he a terrorist?

He that hates with all his might the nationals of a country that shit on his sacred texts, rape his women, torture those detained in their illegal jails, and, as if that wasn't enough, photograph themselves committing these barbarous acts and publish their "pranks", intending to let the world know that they can do anything, that they're above all human beings, above anything that can be considered human, is
he a terrorist?

He that attempts to cause harm to the nationals of a country that illegally kidnaps one of his relatives, and more that 500 people, keeps them prisoner in an inhumane jail in an also-occupied territory of a Carribean country, without even minimal legal assistance, totally denied communication, without a judicial order, not respecting even their most basic human rights, all this happening for all the world to see, while the cynical perpetrators of this action parade around the salons of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, attempting to accuse nations that irk them that supposedly they are the ones violating human rights? (sic, as far as possible), is he a terrorist?

A multimillionaire Muslim who, seeing his compatriots suffer so many humilitations, so much pain, so much bitterness, so much indignity, tires of the war being suffered only on one side and decides to organize the most sophisticated operation known in history ( ! ) so that the assassins of his people learn that the death of innocents is always indignating, is he a terrorist?"

First Question For Mari Pili Hernandez:

Posit that one Abdullah Mustafa, whose family's slaughter in Halabja on orders of his nation's ruler had never been addressed, strapped on a vest stuffed with explosives and took the place of a foreign visitor's security staff on August 10, 2000, and detonated it, killing himself and all these people:

According to your own logic and convictions, is or isn't Abdullah Mustafa a terrorist?

Original Spanish here

Hernandez' diatribe will be considered later, but on its face it speaks to us of one of the attractions of Chavismo: you can be utterly base, ignorant, malignant, thick, useless and talentless, a being steeped in mediocrity at the molecular level who, as long as you shout your loyalty loudly enough, in a shrill enough fashion, will find your complete lack of qualifications or gifts no obstacle to acquiring positions that, on merit, would go to a sack of hammers rather than yourself.

Taking in consideration the way Bin Laden and friends talk about the Jewish people, shall we consider this a very antisemitic statement from the government of Hugo Chavez?

I am happy you post about it in English! Did you do the translation? I also want to link this on my blog.

This is something else on the levels of idiocracy of a public figure. My blood boils everytime very time I read it. Caramba!

Hi Little Venice,

I tend to skip over Mari Pili's column without ever reading it, but I read this one after Ana Julia Jatar mentioned it in her column today. Excellent job on your part exposing Mari Pili's insane argument. The fact that she actually tries to defend Osama bin Laden in the final sentence of her column just blew my mind. But, of course, it shouldn't surprise any of us that certain figures within Chavismo see the actions of Al Qaeda as being justified.

I witnessed her performance in Boston a couple years ago and, believe me, it was a spectacle.

Saludos.

Jungle Mom - You're most welcome to use it as you see fit. It's my own quick translation, but I think it puts across the venom in Hernandez poison pen.

Feathers- likewise, it's yours to repost.

I think that a true, thorough mediocrity's (as Hernandez proves herself to be) rise to the post of
Foreign Minister for North America,
purely on the basis of her bootlicking and boundless sycophancy epitomizes why Chavismo has popular appeal - besides the cash to spread around.

gjpw - I feel your pain - I only know the woman from her cheerleading in the Recall Referendum farce that took place in '04 - where her propaganda tour de force for Chavez earned her the perks of her undeserved title.

I can imagine the shopping in that
Boston/NYC swing...

It's not just the affront to human decency in attempting to carry water for Bin Laden, it's the lazy, sloppiness of all her purported points that makes the medicrity's work so representative of Chavismo's shoddy, hateful Kampf.

My hope is that the next time Hernandez shows up in Mimai or NYC, or in the US embassy in Caracas for a visa, she's held accountable for her sympathy for the devil,

I've writen this else where.. what can you expect from a woman that had a 'thing' with chávez himself? That speaks volumes about

How do you know that Lizzie, am I missing something in here?

Thanks MacPerro, I will post about it. I have been very busy.

Ay Alitas... don't you know?? It was vox populi, back then when he was married. The gossip was that she was seen entering (and exiting) through some back doors (or back corridors) in Miraflores, regularly.

That's when she was appointed to some high place (VTV? don't remember well).

I feel like chepa candela posting.

Not suprising - Hernandez had a high profile role in the RR farce, amd I see that Lina Ron has suggested that the Patan in Chief marry the contemptible Hernandez.

What a tawdry, sordid, seedy lot the Chavistas are. "Por Estas Calles Chavistas", it'd judt write itself...
